THE RULES OF THE BEAST
The Beast is a fairly original concept. It is a wrestling news site, solely devoted to e-fed wrestling. Our reporters are firm, but fair. There will be no sugar coating of the truth at The Beast. If our reporters think a wrestler isn't performing up to his potential, for example, then they'll tell it like it is.
The Beast is entirely "in-character", with several key exceptions. (noted further down) All reporters report as if they were real wrestling reporters. Handlers are never mentioned, just the wrestlers that they represent. E-feds are treated just as if they were real wrestling federations.
Here are the exceptions to the "in-character" rules. For one, this rules page and the Join page break kayfabe. (to use a dead expression) Otherwise, the only "out-of-character" happenings on The Beast will take place on the OOC board. (this stands for out-of-character, what a great coincidence)
Just what is the point of having The Beast? Well, as a former/current e-fed wrestler, I've dealt with the inevitable shutdowns or delays that go along with e-fedding. There's no way around it. Every e-fedder and e-fed president have lives outside this world, so delays are something that everybody in this business has to deal with. The biggest problem is that sad day when you have to move on, and find a new home for your favorite wrestler. The Beast hopes to make that day easier by creating a place where e-fedders from all over the world can gather to meet and co-ordinate. Read reviews of e-feds that you've never heard of, and possibly find a new home. Find out where your old enemy "The Velvet Frog" has gone, and chase him down. These are just a few things that The Beast hopes to accomplish.
Affiliates
By setting up affiliates, The Beast hopes to keep e-fedders everywhere up to date on their happenings. Recaps of recent cards, as well as a current list of champions should serve to spread the name of exciting feds, as well as keep everybody informed. We will also post interviews with affiliate wrestlers, and showcase wrestlers who deserve to be in the limelight. Whether is the veteran who finally won that title he's been struggling for for years, or the brand new rookie who's shaking up the fed, The Beast will be a chance for e-fedders to establish their character outside their fed.
Special features
The Beast will have an out-of-character board where everybody is free to post. Track down wrestlers who's email you've lost. Organize angles or find a partner for an upcoming tag team tournament. Congratulate someone on winning a big match, or an excellent roleplay. Whatever you want to chat about, then this is the place. Our Newsboard is a place where our reporters can keep everybody informed on what's happening in the world of e-fedding. What big star just signed with a new fed? Who are the possible suspects for someone's upcoming mystery partner? Just how did that long-legged blonde get her job as reporter? It's all here in the Newsboard.
The Beast will also feature Wrestler Bios. Instead of hosting them, we will just link to user's existing websites. That way, it is up to the handlers to keep their bios up to date. (of course, I'll make sure that all the links are up-to-date) We want all of the bios to have the same basic layout. So, if you've interested, check out the existing bio pages, and you'll get the idea that we are going for.
Special Events
As The Beast gets more popular, and increases the synergy between our affiliates (damn, I always wanted to use that word!), we hope to be very involved is special events. These can be (but are not limited to) Inter-fed Matches/Cards, Press Conferences, One-shot Tournaments, and the like. Also, I know how difficult it is getting wrestlers for a one-shot tournament, so if you are planning one, let us know. We at The Beast will give any good one-shots premium coverage, including announcements about hiring, as well as a recap of the actual event, once it is posted.
Reporters
Reporters are the meat of The Beast. Without good reporters, the site will quickly turn into a ghost town. Well, in addition to maintaining the site, I intend on being a full-time reporter, under the alias of Johnny Gallivan. Reporters can either be e-fed characters or real people. If you want, you can hide behind a character, and no one but myself will know your real identity. Each reporter will have his/her own regular report. I say regular, but it's up to the reporter how often he wants to update his report. Some reporters will also be responsible to recapping events from one of our affiliate feds. As a reporter, you will be the mouth of The Beast, so treat that privilege with respect. If you've got a problem with a handler, don't take it out on his wrestler; but, on the other hand, just because you are friends with a handler, don't let that bias your opinion of his wrestler. Reporters for The Beast are still journalists, and should carry themselves as such.
